The novel coronavirus has arrived, bringing with it a host of non-health related consequences, including the potential for massive legal and economic issues.
While many courts have closed their doors to hearings and other formal proceedings, lawsuits and other emergency actions can still be filed.
Criminal cases, Protection From Abuse (PFA) cases, bankruptcy proceedings, tax sales and petitions, civil lawsuits, personal injury lawsuits, mortgage foreclosures, sheriff sales, and evictions can still be filed throughout Pennsylvania.
Even though it may seem like the world is quickly grinding to a halt, the legal process will keep marching on in some capacity.

(Rev. 4/1/2020) Effective April 1, 2020, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has closed to the public all Pennsylvania Courts until at least April 30, 2020.
Emergency filings will still be accepted and proceeds may continue on a case-by-case basis. All other court dates between then and now will be rescheduled and all applicable deadlines have been extended.
