Attorney Thomas Kenny, Esquire, of Kenny, Burns & McGill recently represented a client who was charged with three lead counts of F1 Aggravated Assault and additional charges stemming from a shooting in Center City, Philadelphia. Our client was initially held on $600,000.00 bail, but after an oral argument by Attorney Kenny for a bail reduction, bail was cut in half to $300,000.00. Not satisfied with a fifty percent bail reduction, Attorney Kenny made a further request of the Court to reduce our client’s bail and was successful in getting our client out on Electronic Monitoring House Arrest without the need to post monetary bail pending trial.
For well over a year, our client was able to remain out of custody while Attorney Kenny and the Criminal Defense Team at Kenny, Burns & McGill reviewed the Commonwealth’s evidence, investigated the validity of the evidence against our client, and conducted both character and fact witness interviews. After a day long trial, Attorney Kenny and Kenny, Burns & McGill were successful in getting a Not Guilty verdict regarding the F1 Aggravated Assault charges, thus saving our client from a potential of sixty years in custody. Although our client was found guilty of minor charges relating to the matter, Attorney Kenny was further successful in requesting that the Judge allow our client to remain on Electronic Monitoring House Arrest pending sentencing. This was a big win, as the Judge had the option to revoke bail at the end of the trial and have our client placed in custody pending sentencing.
