Norristown is borough and the County Seat of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Located along the Schuylkill River approximately six miles from Philadelphia. As of the 2010 census, Norristown has an estimated population of 34,324 residents. Norristown was named the County Seat of Montgomery County in 1784 when Montgomery County was formed. The city of Norristown was then incorporated as a borough in 1812 and enlarged by about 500 residents because of this.
