Bail Reduced and Charges Dropped in Montco

During the coronavirus pandemic, our attorneys have been advocating at every turn to get our incarcerated clients’ bail reduced, detainers lifted, out of jail to return home to their loved ones.

Just as the coronavirus was starting to take hold in Pennsylvania in the middle of March, we were hired to represent a client at a Preliminary Hearing in Montgomery County.

At that point, Montgomery County courts had already closed down for all but the most pressing legal matters. As our client was incarcerated, his hearing was able to go forward by video court and Attorney Thomas Kenny, seizing on the opportunity, attended court by video conference and argued to have our client’s bail reduced and argued for several of the charges to be dismissed.

Our client, who was being held on $5,000 bail and facing seven (7) counts related to allegations of theft of car parts, also had a loving family at home to whom he desperately looked forward to returning.

Attorney Kenny successfully argued that the bail be reduced by 90% – from $5,000 to $500. His arguments were also so compelling that the judge completely dismissed two charges – Theft of Secondary Metal and Receiving Stolen Property. Both charges were misdemeanors of the first degree.

After posting bail, our client returned home to his family. Our office is always glad when we can reunite a family that has been separated in such scary times as these. It is the very best part of what we do.
