Claims of Toxic Metals and Lead in Gerber Baby Food and Other Brands

Kenny, Burns & McGill  is investigating claims of toxic metals and lead in Gerber baby food, as well as that of other brands, including Nurture (HappyBABY), Beech-Nut, and Hain (Earth’s Best Organics). We are investigating whether these baby food companies and other companies like them knowingly sold baby food with dangerously high levels of lead and other toxic chemicals.

The claims are outlined in a Congressional Report issued February 4, 2021.   “Dangerous levels of toxic metals like arsenic, lead, cadmium and mercury exist in baby foods at levels that exceed what experts and governing bodies say are permissible,” said Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois, chair of the House Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy, which conducted the investigation.

Three additional companies did not respond to the House Subcommittee’s request for data: Walmart (Parent’s Choice), Sprout Organic Foods, and Campbell (Plum Organics).  As a result, the Report stated that the Subcomittee is “greatly concerned that their lack of cooperation might be obscuring the presence of even higher levels of toxic heavy metals in their baby food products than their competitors’ products.”

If you, a loved one, or someone you know believes they may have been affected by the presence of toxic metals and lead in Gerber baby food, or other companies like Nurture (HappyBABY), Beech-Nut, Hain (Earth’s Best Organics), contact Kenny, Burns & McGill immediately for a free legal consultation: (215) 423-5500.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) have declared that lead, arsenic, cadmium, and mercury are toxic heavy metals which are dangerous to human health. These health risks are particularly dangerous for babies and children, who are most vulnerable to their neurotoxic effects.  Even low levels of exposure to these dangerous metals can cause serious (and often irreversible) damage to brain development.
