Parole and Probation Terminated in Murder Case

Today was a great day for Jason, a Kenny, Burns & McGill client who had thirty years of parole and probation terminated in Philadelphia.

Jason was sentenced in 2001 for his alleged role in a 1998 murder.  Jason served his prison time and upon his release, was scheduled to serve an additional thirty years of parole and probation.

Jason knew that he could use that time to make a difference. He co-founded a non-profit committed to preventing young Philadelphians from falling into the trap of street violence. That organization, 17 With Life, has racked up many successes since it first opened its doors.

Flanked by his mother and his nephew, Jason went into court today with his head held high. Experienced criminal defense attorney Thomas Kenny argued Jason’s case to the judge and defended him against the Commonwealth’s attacks.

In recognition of Jason’s efforts, the judge ultimately ordered Jason’s probation terminated. Jason walked out of the courthouse today a free man, off of supervision for the first time since he was a child.

The attorneys and staff at Kenny, Burns & McGill are proud of Jason’s extraordinary commitment to change. We could not be more proud to see this man succeed.
